This year's Kites, Cars, & Other Things had a bit of a make-over compared with the past. To reflect these changes, the name of the event has been changed, away from its former 'Kites & Classic Cars Festival'. The Essex Kite Group members flew their superb Display Kites. Members from the South Eastern Vintage & Classic Vehicle Club showed off their gleaming cars dating back to 1949. There was plenty of car or kite-related craft activity for the children in the Pavilion and many local residents accepted our invitation to bring their own Kite to fly. Last year the kites were hampered by there being too much wind; this year - guess what: the light wind threw a bit of a spanner in the works!
Kites, Cars, and Other Things - September 8th 2019
A report of the day will be found in the Autumn 2019 edition (Issue 63) of Skylarks. Meanwhile, a Gallery from the day can be viewed below. This year's Kites, Cars, & Other Things had a bit of a make-over compared with the past. The sky was largely blue and that made it difficult for the photographer to pick out the kites when they were airborne, but here are the edited highlights

The cars were somewhat easier to capture, starting with a line showing 9 of the 10 cars on display, as they glistened in the late Summer sunshine.

There was also some craft activity....
